Car Drives Into Auto Parts Store

Two people were injured Monday afternoon when a car drove into the Advance Auto Parts Store at 2801 Saw Mill Run Boulevard (Route 51) in Overbrook Monday afternoon.

The driver, who was traveling south (or outbound) on Route 51, drove into the parking lot of the auto parts store, struck two parked cars and continued 30 feet into the building before stopping, according to police reports.

Pittsburgh Police, Fire and EMS responded. One person who was in the store at the time of the collision was injured and taken to a local hospital. Another victim was struck while exiting the store. Both are in stable condition. The driver, age 60, was uninjured.

The Hazardous Materials Spill Response Unit also responded, due to chemicals available for purchase at the auto parts store. They cleared the scene shortly after the incident occurred.
