House Fire In Carrick

Fire in a residence in the 1800 block of Leolyn Street in Carrick Wednesday morning was extinguished by Pittsburgh firefighters without any reports of injury.

The house, which had been subdivided into two apartments, caught on fire around 5:30 AM. Flames were quickly contained. The blaze may have begun in a fireplace being used to heat the home, according to reports, although the cause is being investigated.

At least a dozen people, mostly adults, were displaced. Some were visiting for Thanksgiving. They are being helped out by the Red Cross.
