Water Line Breaks In Overbrook

Services is expected to be restored soon to homes on Homehurst, Hillview and Kingwood Street in Overbrook that were affected by yesterday's water main break. The break in the 30-inch line caused a sinkhole that swallowed a truck and a trailer, and flooded homes. In a notice on the Pennsylvania American Water website, the company anticipated that water service would be restored Tuesday.

Heavy rain overnight delayed repairs on the break. A second water main break overnight, on Walton Avenue, left additional customers without water.

“Pennsylvania American Water is experiencing a series of main breaks in our Pittsburgh District. Our crews are prioritizing repairs by the order that they were received, or in some cases, by level of emergency,” a note on the Pennsylvania American Water Company's Facebook page said.

Water buffaloes were made available in the area.
