Churches in the Carrick area will have special services on Christmas Eve. Through the holiday season, carols will be sung, there will be meals and prayer services, and a giving tree makes presents available.

Spencer United Methodist Church on Spencer Avenue in Carrick will hold a candlelight service Christmas Eve at 9:00 PM.

On Wednesdays in December, they’re having evening prayer services at 7:00 PM with a small meal beforehand at 6:15 PM, Pastor Dylan Parson wrote. Spencer United Methodist Church is one of four churches in the South Hills Partnership.

Fairhaven United Methodist Church on Saw Mill Run Boulevard in Overbrook will have candlelight Christmas Eve service at 11:00 PM. Fairhaven is also part of the is part of the South Hills Partnership.

Concord Presbyterian Church on Brownsville Road in Carrick will hold Christmas Eve Service at 7:00 PM. Seminary student Sherri Lynn Dunik, who lives in this area, will be the guest speaker. All are welcome.

The following day, Love Carrick is hosting a Christmas luncheon at 2:00 PM at Concord Presbyterian Church. Everyone is welcome. There’s no charge, although donations will be accepted. RSVP is required.

St Basil Church on Brownsville Road in Carrick, will hold a Festival of Carols and Praise on Saturday, December 11, starting at 7:00 PM.

St Peter’s Church on Brownsville Road in Brentwood will hold three Christmas Eve services – 3:00 PM for children and grandparents, 7:00 family service, and 10:00 worship with Bhutanese Christian Community (Nepalese).

St Peter’s is collecting cash and gifts for a giving tree for people who children who need presents, Father Jay said. The church also supports a recovery house for the opioid epidemic.

From now through Christmas, churches have scheduled Christmas Eve services, special meals, singing and presents for children who need them.
